About
The origins of my tea party business began when I started collecting tea cups at the age of 11 while on a trip with my parents. The various souvenir shops we visited offered many styles. From these early adventures, I received invaluable mentorship throughout the years on how to entertain guests with authentic English teas. The women who inspired me used exquisite bone china tea cups and pretty linens. A new love of beautiful things was born.
Today, I am overjoyed when my four granddaughters sit around little tables and drink “tea” and eat “scones” (orange juice and crackers). I’ve taught them how to carefully use my teacups, little pinkies in the air. I’ve taught them etiquette and the social rules of having big girl conversations. As a former 5th grade teacher, education is important to me. I believe etiquette is a way to honor others by showing thoughtfulness and care. With Make-A-Memory Tea Parties, I am excited to have a space to pass on the practice of social graces in the lives of young girls.
Other friends have taught me a love of gardening—to appreciate God’s design in nature. I love everything about flower gardening. My garden is ever changing and expanding. I am thankful to my husband who lovingly builds gorgeous garden structures and lays flagstone pathways. Depending on the season, each group that comes for tea gets to see a different aspect of my garden and Neil's latest project.
